Annual Stump Picnic
Democratic Club of Phelps County
July 10, 2021 - 11:30 am - 2:30 pm
Lions Club Park
The Democratic Club of Phelps County (Rolla, Missouri) would like to invite you to the annual Stump Picnic which will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm.
The club’s Stump Picnic is a long-standing tradition in Phelps County which has brought Democratic candidates to Rolla to meet rural Democrats in the Missouri Ozarks. In the past, our speakers have included both state-wide and local candidates running for office ranging from governor to county commission.
Each speaker is encouraged to give a brief “stump speech” and meet local Democrats.
The event will be a traditional "potluck" format. Picnic participants are asked to bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. The club will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, and buns as well as tableware, cups, and drinks.
Want to hear the candidates but suffering from post-Independence Day hot dog and three-bean-salad overload? Skip the lunch and come on out a little before 1:00 when the victuals will be fading and the speakers warming up.
Did you know that there are already five announced candidates for the Democratic Senatorial nomination? The race to replace the retiring Republican will be interesting and we believe that all five candidates will be in Rolla to speak at the Stump Picnic!
We are finalizing the event schedule as speakers commit to coming. A final schedule of speakers and their times will be sent to you a few days before the event.
