The Democratic Club of Phelps County to hold a public forum on redistricting in Missouri
Rolla, Missouri - The Democratic Club of Phelps County will hold a public forum to provide information on the process and status of redistricting in Missouri with emphasis on impacts to Phelps County. The event will be nonpartisan and open to the public with an opportunity for Q&A with speakers.
● EVENT: Missouri Redistricting Public Forum
● SPEAKERS:
o Nancy Price, League of Women Voters (LWV) Missouri Fair Redistricting Committee
The LWV representative will explain how the process of redistricting works in Missouri, including participants, timelines, and current status.
o Michael Moroni, member of the Missouri House redistricting commission appointed by Governor Parson. Mr. Moroni lives and works in the 8th Congressional District which includes Phelps County.
Mr. Moroni will discuss how the redistricting process has worked from the perspective of a participant in the process. He will also discuss possible changes to the Missouri House districts in and around Phelps County.
o Don Mayhew, Missouri State House Representative for District 121 which currently includes parts of Phelps and Pulaski Counties.
Rep. Mayhew will discuss how the redistricting process overall may affect people in his District. Since it is possible the State House District map will not be finalized by the time of the meeting, Rep. Mayhew will discuss how possible outcomes will affect citizens in the region.

In consideration of the continued threat of the pandemic in our community, masks are encouraged and appreciated and attendees are asked to practice social distancing to the extent possible.
The Democratic Club of Phelps County was founded in 1932. The club seeks to: 1) expand our base and membership, 2) provide educational opportunities, and 3) support our candidates.
